  • 1st Prize: Team 'Shirley Sparks' from Shirley Boys High School, Christchurch - 3 scholarships, NZ$4,000 each over 2 years (@$2,000/yr)
  • 2nd Prize: Team 'Coal Burners' from Cashmere High School, Christchurch - 3 scholarships, NZ$3,000 each over 2 years (@$1,500/yr)

Note: winners, as well as a representative from each of the winning schools will be invited to attend an awards ceremony to be held at the University of Canterbury in December 2009. Winning students will receive individual frame-able certificates; travel airfares (or intercity coach fares) will also be covered if travelling from a school area outside Christchurch, provided it is within New Zealand*
